Dealing with finances can put additional stress on those planning the final arrangements. We are pleased to provide a list of additional resources below that may provide financial and estate assistance to you.
Payment, Financing and Funding
Payment in full is due when signing the contract. Payment may be made by cash, cheque, money order, Debit, Visa or Mastercard. Overdue accounts are charged at a rate of 1.25% month (15% per annum).
Funding your wishes in advance
Thoughtful planning allows families the opportunity to make sound financial and emotional decisions when planning a cremation. Here are three options to consider when arranging a cremation in advance:
To suit your budget, this Plan is designed specifically for funding cremation arrangements through insurance. We will assist with the purchase of an insurance contract, which provides your choice of 1, 3, 5 and 10 year payment plan options.
Funds are held in trust and invested in Canadian Guaranteed Investment Certificates. A prepaid contract for money held in trust may be cancelled at any time and all funds plus accumulated interest will be returned to the purchaser. However, you will be subject to pay income tax on all of the interest accumulated.
With either prepayment option, if you have prepaid the guaranteed contract in full, the interest accumulates tax free, when the prepaid funds are applied to the total cost of the arrangements at the time of need. Any excess funds will be returned to the estate of the deceased person. If the arrangements have been fully prepaid and there are not sufficient funds when the services are provided, Affordable Cremation Options will absorb the shortfall as the arrangements have been guaranteed as described in the contract.
Preplanning without prepaying
All of your instructions can be recorded on file at our office. The cremation services are provided at the time of need with the price schedules in effect when the death occurs.
